Corearte Proyectos Culturales would like to invite you to participate in the 4th International Choir Festival COREARTE BARCELONA 2010, to be held in the City of Barcelona and surrounding areas from the 18th to the 24th of October, 2010.
This non-competitive event is open to choirs of various backgrounds from all over the world.
This fourth International Festival will provide participants with an opportunity to perform and to attend workshops with important international maestros as well as taking part in our Closing ceremony Gala Concert to be held in one of Barcelona’s most important venues.
Included in the Festival programme are visits to some of Barcelona´s most iconic sites of historical and architectural interest such as the Park Güell, the Barcelona Ramblas, the Magic Fountains on Montjuic, Gaudi''s Temple of the Sagrada Familia as well as the Abbey perched on the spectacular hillside of Montserrat.

добрый день, я недавно переехала жить в Москву и ищу хор, к которому могла бы присоединиться, пожалуйста, сообщите, возможно ли это сделать не студентам консерватории? если да, какие требования предъявляются к кандидатам, а так же когда проходят репетиции.
Немного о себе: до недавнего времени я пела в церковном хоре, а так же являлась членом Ealing Choral Society, с которым я псполняла такие произведения, как Реквиемы Дюруфле и Верди, Чичестерские псалмы Бернштейна, Массия Хенделя, Магнификат Баха, Диксит Доминус Вивальди, произведения Тавенера, Бриттена и проч (если Вы захотите поподробнее узнать об этом хоре, Вы можете зайти на вебсайт http://www.ealingchoralsociety.org.uk/page.aspx?id=153).

Character of the festival

The International Choral Festival of Preveza counts 27 interesting and exciting years of high quality choral music, challenged by excellent choirs which are continuously raising its standards and a great variety of intercultural experiences with participants from all over the world.

The Festival includes numerous concerts given at idyllic locations of the area like the seaside fortress of Preveza and the historic Ancient Auditorium of Nicopolis ‘Odeon’. The other part of the Festival is the prestigious competition for which through the years we have been honoured to have internationally been acclaimed experts of the field overseas.

Points of attention

• Closing date for receipt of completed applications is 1st April 2010.
• Only amateur singers’ choirs can take part in the competition (this rule does not apply to the conductors).
• The competitive performances will be given in a concert hall in the presence of audience. The non - competitive performances will be given at open – air places at several parts of the town.


Competition’s Categories

All choirs can participate and compete in all six (6) categories. In the case of a choir wishing to participate in more than one category, they will not be charged with more than one participation fee. However they will have to fill in another application form for the second category, etc.
The categories of the competition are the following:
• Category A: Mixed choirs. Minimum of twenty two (22) singers.
• Category B: Equal Voices’ choirs (male or female). Minimum of twenty two (22) singers.
• Category C: Children’s choirs. Minimum of twenty two (22) singers and age limit of 17 years.
• Category D: Chamber choirs (mixed, male or female ensembles) with a maximum of 20 singers.
• Category E: Youth choirs (mixed or female ensembles). Minimum of twenty two (22) singers and age limit of 25 years.


International Jury Committee

An International Jury Committee, consisting of at least three well-known Greek and/or foreign musicians will judge the competitive part of the festival and mark each performance based on the following:
• Technique (rhythm, articulation and sound)
• Difficulty
• Intonation
• Interpretation, and
• Stylistic fidelity

The International Jury Committee allocates marks for the technical and artistic quality of the chosen programme and the overall quality of its performance. It will also take into account how well the choir communicates with the audience in a performance situation.

The results of the marking process will be unappeasable and irrefutable in all aspects.


Repertoire Requirements

The choirs of categories A, B, C, D and E must prepare on free choice:
• A piece of sacred music composed before 1800.
• A piece of sacred music composed between 1800 – 1950.
• A piece of sacred music composed after 1950.
• A folk song from the choir''s country of origin.

Compulsory pieces

All the choirs are required to prepare a compulsory piece. This will be selected between the two which will be suggested for each category and sent to them by the artistic management of the festival.

“A cappella” - Intonation

All the choirs will be competing in works “a cappella" and on free choice of intonation (identified in advance).

Duration

The whole competition program should not exceed 20 minutes for each category.

Marking - Medals

The I.J.C will award prizes to the choirs, which will have achieved the following marks:
• From 90,00 to 100 points, Gold medal
• From 80,00 to 89,99 points, Silver medal
• From 70,00 to 79,99 points, Bronze medal

Marking – Prize Money

The following prize money will be awarded to the choirs with gold medal and with the highest mark in each category:

Category A: 600€ & 1st prize
Category B: 500€ & 1st prize
Category C: 400€ & 1st prize
Category D: 400€ & 1st prize
Category E: 400€ & 1st prize

Marking – Special Prizes

The I.J.C. may award other special prizes:
• For the best performance of orthodox chant
• For the best folklore performance
• For the best conducting, e.t.c.

Awarding Ceremony

All the prizes, certificates and diplomas will be announced and handed in at a special ceremony in the presence of audience and authorities, where the choirs selected by the International Jury Committee will perform one (1) or two (2) songs also chosen by the I.J.C.

Non – competitive concerts

All kinds of choirs can participate in the festival. The place and the time of the non-competitive concerts will be arranged by the Organizing Committee that will also choose which choirs will participate in each concert. Pieces of each choir''s choice (with a preference for sacred or folklore works) will be performed "a cappella" within 10-15 minutes.

Application Procedure

• Closing date for receipt of completed applications is 1st April 2010.
• Once the appropriate material is received, it will be evaluated and the applicant choir will be informed whether they are chosen to participate or not.
• Concerning the compulsory works of each category, they will be announced and sent to each choir after 10th April 2010.

Each choir is required to forward:
• A fully detailed application form (which is attached).
• A short history of the choir and curriculum vitae of the conductor.
• A photograph of the choir and another one of the conductor.
• A recent recording of the choir.
• Six (6) scores of every piece of the choir''s choice.
• A list of the names and addresses of the choir members that do not hold EU passports.
• The registration fee, € 400 by cheque mailed to the address of the festival or transferred to the following account:

Travel Costs

The festival does not contribute to a choir’s travel costs to and from Preveza.

Accommodation and Meals

Each choir will be able to participate in the festival only on the condition that they will make accommodation arrangements through the travel agency that sponsors the festival. (Ask for the price list). In any other case, they will not be admitted in the festival. So, each choir authorizes the Organising Committee to make all the appropriate procedures concerning booking accommodation through the specific travel agency of our region.

Accommodation & Transportation Form

All choirs must fill in an accommodation and transportation form and send it to the travel agency that sponsors the festival, so as to get informed of the cost of accommodation and transportation for their choir during the festival. As soon as they are informed that they have been selected to participate, they have to proceed and make all the necessary reservations.


Broadcasting, Recording and Photographic Rights
It is a condition of participation that any choir agrees that:
• Any performance it gives during the festival may be photographed, broadcast live and/or recorded for subsequent reproduction and/or broadcast on radio and/or television without payment to the choir (or folk-dance group or orchestra).
• All broadcasting and photographic rights to any performance at the festival shall belong to the festival which will be free to dispose of them or utilise them in promotional materials it sees fit.
• Any performance it gives during the festival may, without payment, be recorded and the festival shall be entitled to possession of any such recording and shall further be entitled to reproduce any such recording and to sell, let for hire, offer or exposure for sale or hire, distribute or otherwise dispose of any recording or reproduction of recording of any such performance in any manner that it sees fit.

General Rules
• Registration fee (minus any bank charges incurred) will be refunded if a choir is not selected to participate in the festival.
• Any selected choir that withdraws from the competition is not entitled to a refund of the registration fee.
• It is contrary to law to perform music that has been reproduced illegally. Should a choir do so, the festival accepts no responsibility for any action taken by publishers.
• Participation in the festival implies acceptance of all the above rules and regulations.

Corearte Proyectos Culturales, extend the invitation to participate in the III International Choir Festival "COREARTE" BARCELONA 2009".
Given the interest shown in our festival and the numerous petitions to extend the deadline for applications, we would like to inform you that we will accept new applications and enquiries until the 20 th May 2009.

В этом году, в городе Пула (Хорватия), проводится 1-ый Международный Хоровой фестиваль Саntate Croatia’2009, программа которого предлагает огромное количество различных культурно-развлекательных событий.
Пула – самый большой город полуострова Истрии с трёхтысячелетней историей, визитной карточкой города является древнеримский Амфитеатр, который был построен в первом столетии и является одним из самых больших Колизеев мира. It is my pleasure, as Corearte Barcelona 2009 Festival President, to invite your choral
group to participate in the 3rd annual International Choir Festival, Corearte2009.
Our event which will take place in Barcelona for the third year running.

This festival fulfils the main objective of our association, Corearte Proyectos Culturales: to offer opportunities for continuing education, integration and personal development to all participants in addition to enjoying the benefits and sheer joy of sharing music.

The urban spaces of great architectonic and acoustic prestige such as Park Güell, Montserrat Abbey and Barcelona University halls have all been especially chosen to enhance the quality of the performance experience for all participants involved as well as for the visiting public.

WORKSHOPS
In line with our commitments to providing opportunities for musical training and continuing education, we have strived to increase the effort and dedication applied in order to further develop the educational and pedagogical aspects of our Festival.

PARTICIPANT ACCOMMODATION
Santa Susana, in the province of Barcelona, is the chosen location for the Festival accommodation. Set within beautiful natural surroundings and only fifty minutes away from Barcelona International Airport (BCN) this costal town has a very important hotel and tourist infrastructure. The pleasant Mediterranean climate and the friendliness of local people will ensure the most is made of all opportunities for social activities.

EXCURSIONS
Within the "PROGRAM" section you can find a detailed list of all programmed activities. We have tried to include those sights we consider to be the most attractive and interesting for visitors.

With great enthusiasm and dedication, we have invested all our energy into the organisation of "COREARTE 2009" in the firm belief that it will aid in forming a greater understanding, facilitate communication, provide a sense of brotherhood, foment friendship and provide a platform for cultural exchange among all Festival participants.
It is with all this in mind that we extend our warmest invitation to take part in this international event. I do hope to see you in Barcelona, for Corearte2009.

30 октября в Большом зале консерватории была исполнена хоровая опера Родиона Щедрина "Боярыня Морозова". Я сейчас редко выбираюсь на концерты, но это пропустить было нельзя.

Впечатление - очень сильное. Прекрасная музыка, в которой сочетается острая современность языка с опорой на древнерусский мелос и красивую кантилену. После "Хорового концерта" Шнитке ничего подобного по виртуозности и красочности хорового письма на ум не приходит.

Приятно удивил австралиец Эндрю Гудвин в партии протопопа Аввакума. Сперва подумалось: ну, какой из этого милого мальчика страдалец-протопоп? Я недавно видела Гудвина в роли Ленского в "Онегине" - там он был трогателен, но слишком забавен, чтобы воспринимать как фигуру трагическую.

В партии Аввакума он, по-моему, превзошел себя. Тенор дивной красоты и мучительной сладости, выпевавший трудные и страшные слова с полным пониманием их смысла, с красивейшей тающей филировкой звука, но без свойственного многим тенорам самолюбования... Все певцы были хороши, особенно Лариса Костюк (Морозова), но австралийский певец в такой роли - это потрясение!

Хор потряс абсолютным вхождением в материал. Конечно, Борис Тевлин - руководитель жесткий и властный, но, не будь на то общей воли хористов, из-под палки ничего бы не получилось. А тут - как один организм.

Наверное, всё значение этого произведения мы оценим позже.
